How to use Brass Threaded Inserts for Metal?

When you use the new 3D printing technology, you want to use various parts where threaded joints are to be made threaded joints.

It is because you want the parts to be removable. Or you want a permanent union of large volumes.

In all these applications, you can make use of threaded inserts for metal. Metallic threaded inserts or bushing will be highly useful in this case.

As far as metallic inserts are concerned, the two types of inserts are Threaded Inserts and Self-tapping bushings or Ensat type inserts.

Heat threaded inserts

These types of inserts are used with thermoplastic materials. The material melts at low temperatures. The method to use it is very simple. You just need a heat source or welder. It is to make a contact by which the heat transmission will occur.

Due to heat, the brass insert will get heated. This is made from a metal that transmits a high percentage of heat energy.

When the plastic melts from the walls of the hole, it creates a resistant union. It prevents the melted plastic to come out or turning the insert. It works efficiently and effectively even if the environment has a lot of vibration.

If a right collation is achieved in these inserts, then a tensile strength of 15 kilograms and a torsional strength of 2.5 kilograms can be achieved.

Installing Sloid Wall Threaded Inserts for Metal

These types of inserts for metal can be installed using standard tools. You just have to drill an appropriately-sized hole with a standard drill and tap the hole with a standard tap. Turn in the threaded insert just like an ordinary fastener. A screwdriver can be used for that. Another driving tool is a bolt and jam nut.

The process is quite simple and does not require complex technical knowledge.

Solid wall inserts are self-locking. As soon as they are installed, any appropriate adhesive has to be applied to the external threads. Once it is set, the newly installed insert is ready for fasteners within a few minutes.

If you need any external help regarding this, then it is possible to get it online. While browsing on the Internet, it is possible to get information in detail. All mechanical properties and product specifications are given in that.

In brief, the process is as follows:

  • Drill hole with a standard drill.
  • Tap the hole using a standard tap.

Thread the insert into place using any driving tool, e.g., screwdriver, bolt/jam nut, or optional drive tool.
